Winter Birthday Card

I wanted to use the deer head diecut from the Maggie Holmes Open Book set again and seeing that Simon Says Stamp has a new Wednesday Challenge called "Winter Birthday", well antlers and snow seems to come to mind. Well, at least to my mind.

This is a relatively simple card with the birthday greeting stamped in Encore Ultimate Metallic Gold ink using Hero Arts Many Everyday Messages stamp set. The gold ink is rather subtle and doesn't really show up on screen. I added a punched out glitter gold snowflake for that slightly more wintery element.

Square Masculine Birthday Card

So Simon Says Stamp has a new Monday Challenge and that is Be Square. I just received the WRMK Next Level geometric embossing folders today and wanted to try them out along with the deer head from Maggie Holmes Open Book die set, which I cut from a wood patterned paper.

The "birthday" word was cut using Papertrey Ink's die and the music notes background is actually a thin origami paper from Daiso. Those Next Level embossing folders are amazing! I can't wait to experiment on glitter paper and perhaps get more designs soon.

This is a 4" square card using a plain white cardstock base.

Golden Love Heart Card

Hello, again! Here's another card for both the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and Wednesday Challenge, which happen to have a similar theme, and that is to use something new that I haven't used before. And I thought the perfect thing was to use the Neat & Tangled Heart of Gold die that I bought from SSS last year but didn't get around to using. And just in time for Valentine's too.

Every element on this card is brand new to me. I embossed the background using Amy Tangerine's Love Spun embossing folder and the word "LOVE" is stamped using MFT's Label Maker Sentiments set.

The heart was cut using two different glitter foam papers. One in a shimmery pearl white and one in a bright gold. I then carefully stuck the fragmented pieces onto a cardstock as a base and inserted the heart outline after. It was tedious but so worth the effort as the end result is absolutely beautiful. I opted to go for a plain white background because I wanted the heart to take center stage.

Hugs & Kisses XOXO Card

This card is for the MFT Sketch #314 challenge. I used a discontinued (I think) Die-Namics cover up die called Hugs and Kisses to cut out the red background and mat it with a black cardstock so the "xoxo" stands out a bit more. Then I cut a small heart from a Kaisercraft stacked heart die set and popped up the stamped words "Hugs & Kisses" from MFT's Label Maker Sentiments stamp set. There's a bit of a swirly design on the back of the heart and it's a diecut from Tim Holtz Scribbles and Splats.

As much as I like the final result of the background die, it was a wee bit tedious poking all the little bits out. And if I were to make it again, I'd use a solid color cardstock instead of pattern paper as I find it a bit too busy. But overall, I think it's quite a nice card :-)
